The new Z605, offers our customers the ability to perform both Buckle and Burst tests without the need of change parts. The operator simply loads the end into the gauge to initiate both the Buckle and Burst tests. The collated data is then sent through to the customer’s specific SPC database for analysis when required.
The Z605 is the world’s first triple automatic beverage end buckle & burst gauge, due to the modular design of the gauge additional modules can be added to cater for multiple size capability (200 – 300 Diameter ends).
The gauge works by loading the end into the tooling, clamping the end securely over the top of the curl area and sealing. The correct alignment of the clamp is critical, pressure is then applied until the end buckles or reaches a maximum pressure specified by the customer before aborting the current test. The gauge then outputs the maximum buckle pressure via a real time signature (graph) including numerical data for the SPC requirements.
The Z340 has been developed to give detailed distribution analysis of sprayed lacquer and varnish on a can. The system utilizes state of the art non-contact spectroscopy techniques and is suitable for both aluminium and steel can inspection (single and double pass spray). A fully flexible CNC controlled measurement probe, ensures all sizes of can from 202 – 211 body can be inspected by simple program selection, without the need for change parts.
The Z401 automatically collects each shell from the stack and loads into the gauging module with an integrated pick & place system. The Measurement Cycle is then initiated via the PC running the TMS GaugeXplorer Measurement and Machine Control Software. The machine can be supplied for a single fixed diameter of Shell, or for facilities producing multiple sizes from 200 – 206 diameter. State of the art Windows Software ensures the operator is presented with the latest measurement information, such as Average, Range, Max and Min for all features.
Our Z603 automates the gathering of accurate, repeatable and unbiased data relating to the opening performance of your ends. By sampling ends from the production line on a regular frequency, the Opening Force Gauge can monitor the following critical features: Pop Force, Pop Angle, Tear Force, Tear Angle, in addition to Tab Strength and Vent/ Missile Performance on the new enhanced version. Thus providing significant savings in both labour and reduced scrap or HFI.
Defining the standard for dimensional inspection of beverage and beer cans, the Automatic Back End Gauge can be specified for measurement of both Pre-Necked and Finished Cans. Measurement features available are: flange width, can height and internal neck diameter; with reform dome diameter and depth, axial load and dome reversal as additional options.
By listening to our customers, Torus have developed the End Enamel Rater, featuring; a batch interrupt facility, 4 shells/end per minute, in-cycle conductivity monitoring, automatic electrolyte recycling and a triple contact system. Both shells and converted ends can be inspected and multi size modules ranging from 200 diameter to 300 diameter are available.
The Z403 Compound Weight and Placement Gauge has been designed to reduce the significant labour time associated with manual compound weight and placement checks, whilst also reducing the risk of human error in this manually labour intensive process.
The operator simply selects the appropriate inspection programme, loads the component into the gauge and closes the door to initiate the inspection routine. Inspection programmes can be created for multiple component types and sizes, including Cups, Straight Walled cans and optionally, 2 Piece Bottle Necking Progressions.

The Torus Measurement Systems Manual Coating Analyser has been developed to give fast and accurate measurement of the Internal Lacquer, sprayed during today’s 2 piece can manufacturing process.
Simple, manual positioning by the operator, ensures side wall measurements are immediately displayed on the embedded mini touch screen PC.
Internal lacquer features measured are: Side Wall and Dome. By cutting the can to give suitable access, the dome area of the Can, can be checked by the system.

The Torus Measurement Systems EOE Progression Gauge has been developed to complement our Automatic Shell Inspection Systems used widely throughout the Metal Packaging Industry. The system incorporates two non contact laser sensors, mounted in differential on a rigid caliper, the component location table is then traversed under multi-axis control to the required position by a 3 axis stage and the EOE rotated to the required position for inspection of each selected feature.
