Measure
 
The basis for successful energy management is the recording of energy data. Digitization means that meter data no longer has to be processed manually, but can be recorded and stored automatically using modern sensor technology.

Visualise
 
The recorded energy consumption data is transferred to an energy management system (EnMS), where it is available in clear, customizable dashboards. Our EnMS VisuEnergy X has been specially optimized for the printing and packaging industry.

Realise
 
In order to realise savings, the existing data must be interpreted and concrete measures derived. The experienced experts of our partner ECG (Energie Consulting GmbH) accompany our customers with customized consulting on the way to maximum energy efficiency.

The trend towards using UV or UV-LED technology on printing lines is steadily increasing. The advantages of the technology are obvious - energy and space-saving production that meets the high quality requirements in the metal packaging market!

Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint sets standards in metal packaging printing. With over 60 UV lines in the market, the technology has been established for years. Over 70% of the printing lines in the market are equipped with UV or UV-LED technology.

This innovative sheet transportation system consists of air nozzles which generate an evenly air cushion on which the sheet flows – without touching the table. Only two vacuum belts positioned in the middle of the table, are sufficient to ensure an even and precise sheet transport. The result: less scratches and a stable production even at high production speed. Crashes and spoilage are dramatically reduced due to smooth sheet transportation perfect sheet arrival at the loading machine. Finally, make-ready times are shortened as there are no more sheet size adaptations necessary.

With the proven sheethandling competences from Koenig & Bauer Metalprint, the inspection of the front- and backside of the sheet is achieved with the highest transportation stability. The proven technology of the past has been combined with the smart technology and additional optimizations. Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint has all the components for a smooth and highly automated process and offers individually tailored solutions for process optimisation and automation, including adaptation to the available space and other special circumstances at the customer’s site.

Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint drying ovens have enjoyed a reputation as the best ovens in the world for the drying of printed and coated metal sheets for several decades. The principle has been copied on many occasions, but never equalled. Through to the present day, a temperature constancy of +/- 1.5%, the fast and gentle heating phase, and efficient cooling have remained the benchmarks for drying ovens.

Reliable and damage-free drying is guaranteed even at high speeds. Dynamic speed control ensures that sheet transport is as gentle as possible during loading and unloading of the oven. Thanks to the specially shaped air nozzles, thin sheets down to 0.100 mm can be dried without causing vibration which could otherwise damage the sheets.

MetalPrint drum dryers are available in a wide choice of versions, all specifically tailored to the needs of our customers.
All drum dryers rely on the proven drying technology which is also used in LTG thermal drying ovens. Regardless of whether an oven is needed as multiple-row, as a double tunnel or as a wicket oven, MetalPrint has the ideal solution.
The integrated EcoTNV also increases efficiency and reduces energy costs significantly.

The thermal drying of metal sheets requires an enormous energy input in order to generate the necessary heat. At the same time, the process produces a large volume of solvent-laden exhaust air, which must subsequently be purified.
Drawing on decades of experience in the field of exhaust air purification, MetalPrint has successfully achieved a considerable increase in efficiency and cost-saving potential compared to traditional air purification solutions with its EcoTNV system.

The latest generation of drying ovens from MetalPrint promises even greater energy savings and efficiency, allowing for a further significant reduction in energy costs.
The new HighEcon drying oven – winner of a silver METPACK Innovation Award – is the only drying oven in the world which enables you to run sheets down to a thickness of 0.100 mm, while at the same time achieving energy savings of up to 70%.

The sheer diversity of coating types is one of the greatest challenges for modern coating machines. Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint, however, offers a carefully matched solution for every application. The MetalCoat 470 runs stably and reliably even with very thin and scroll sheets. The MetalCoat 480 is an ideal choice for incorporation into a UV printing line where protective coatings are required. The MetalCoat 483 is an answer to growing market demands for even higher quality, productivity and sophisticated coatings. With the newly developed 3-roller coating system, all conventional and BPA-free coatings can be processed with perfect results.

Benefit from long-proven and -appreciated Mailänder technologies, combined with the outstanding automation of high-performance MetalStar 3 printing units. Print even the most challenging sheet types and thicknesses both stably and reliably, without foregoing the print quality and automation of the MetalStar 3 technology.

MetalControl is an inline colour measurement system. It scans each printed sheet by means of a high-resolution line scan camera and LED lighting. The ink densities in the print control strip on each printed sheet are recorded and the difference to the target density is determined. These measured values are used for fast dynamic inline control of the ink zones. The control is fully automatic and requires no operator intervention. Furthermore, the system generates measurement reports in PDF format.
