Stainless steel containers for demanding filling goods

Stainless steel containers for demanding filling goods
Innovation

With the proven solutions and forward-looking applications from Weil Technology, laser welded containers and tanks made of thinwalled stainless steel are manufactured with maximum flexibility and minimum cycle times to meet the most demanding requirements: They are designed for demanding fillings, offer high corrosion resistance, are PFASfree, absolutely gas- and liquid-tight, durable, robust and 100 per cent recyclable.

The manufacturing process

  • Cut to length from stack or coil
  • Roll-bending
  • Laser welding of longitudinal seam
  • Subsequent forming is easily achievable (oval, square)
  • Cycle time one second

The benefits of laser welded stainless steel cans

  • High chemical inertness: Stainless steel is neutral in taste and sensory, does not react with the contents, does not require an internal coating, and is free of PFAS and other coating or paint substances
  • Designed for demanding filling goods: Stainless steel is ideal for acidic contents (low pH value), products containing alcohol, sulphurous or chemically reactive fillings, hot filling and thermal processes
  • Robust, durable and sustainable

Manufacturing using laser beam welding guarantees:

  • Nearly invisible, smooth weld seam – no perceptible edge
  • Excellent hygiene through smooth surfaces
  • Very high corrosion resistance of the seam zone
  • Ideal for thin-walled stainless steel materials (0.3 to 0.5 millimetres)
  • Absolutely gas and liquid tight
  • Welding without additives for a particularly clean finish
  • High impact, scratch and pressure resistance
  • Ideally suited for reusable, refillable and premium applications
  • Extremly long storable
  • 100 per cent recyclable
  • Ideal for brands and products with focus on quality and sustainability

Company profile

Weil Technology's core competence lies in machines for sheet metal processing using laser welding and cutting. We can look back on over 35 years of experience in this field. At our headquarters in Müllheim in southern Baden, around 250 employees develop and manufacture our concepts, machines and interlinked systems.

With our proven solutions and forward-looking applications, laser-welded cylinders, cans, containers and pressure vessels made of thin-walled stainless steel are manufactured with a high degree of flexibility and the shortest cycle times, meeting the most demanding requirements: They are designed for demanding filling goods, offer high chemical inertness, are PFAS-free, absolutely gas- and liquid-tight, durable, robust and 100% recyclable.
